"The book was based around the abandoned house of my late grandmother Diana Ross. She was a well-loved and influential children's book writer in England. She was best known for the ‘Little Red Engine Gets A Name’ published in 1942. In the late 1980’s she suffered from memory loss and after a number of burglaries moved North to live with my parents. I went back years later to document the house and discovered the old poem. It was written around the time her own Mother passed away in 1956. It describes an old woman wishing, as she lay dying for the innocent touch of her young children who are now grown up and can never regain the feelings they had when they were young."
