Pablo López Luz - Pyramid, RM, 2015, Barcelona

Hardcover, text by Alfonso Morales, design by Olivier Andreotti (Toluca Studio).

„Born in Mexico City in 1979, Pablo López Luz earned a master’s in art from New York University in 2006 and has also studied at the International Center of Photography in New York. He currently lives and works in Mexico City. His work has been exhibited in numerous collective and individual exhibitions at international museums and galleries. The first book devoted entirely to his own work—Pablo López Luz—was published in 2012 (RM + Toluca Éditions).

Pablo López Luz photographs doors and doorways adorned with inverted pyramids, concentric rectangles, lines, and fragmented metal bars in the streets of Mexico City. By creating a visual registry of these ornaments, the artist reveals the local people’s taste for simple geometrical forms and reminiscences of pre-Hispanic designs, exploring how these patterns are inserted and brought up to date in a contemporary urban context.“
