Hans W. Mende has photographed the life of his grandparents on their small farm in the northern part of Germany in the late 70´s. The recurring daily activities, the management of the farm, the landscape with its formative influence, the slow process of change over the years and the sad farewell at the end of a long life.
The image cycle is a great time document, that unsentimental but touching focuses on the relationship between man and nature and the transience of life.
›Leise Wandlungen‹ has been published in a first edition in 1982 by ›Palmenpresse‹ and at that time won the KODAK PHOTO BOOK AWARD.
Parallel to an extensive exhibition at the ›Museumsdorf Cloppenburg‹, the completely revised extended edition of the photobook classic is published by PEPERONI BOOKS.The book contains 100 photographs and texts by Hans W. Mende as well as records by his grandfather Willi Böning.
