Kazuo Kitai - Teikoh (Resistance, 北井一夫 抵抗) , Murai-sha, 1965, Tokyo

Softcover, text by Kosei Inoue. Kitai’s first publication, signed.

"First edition of Kitai’s first publication, issued in the year he left Tokyo’s Nihon University. The photographs were taken of the student protests against the Treaty of Mutual Cooperation and the continued presence of American military bases in Japan. As a continuation of the Ampo demonstrations of 1960,  left wing and anti-establishment groups continued their vocal opposition against the Treaty of Mutual Co-operation and Security, and particularly the presence of American military bases in Yokosuka. Teikoh was an important influence for Takuma Nakahira, Daido Moriyama, and other photographers who were associated with, or followed the Provoke group." (Oliver J. Wood)
